Taking Care and Compassion to a New Level in Home Healthcare

Service and passion are the hallmarks of any good company, but in the particular field of healthcare, it truly almost becomes a job requirement. Having compassion and caring for customers who are facing health issues is paramount in service-oriented companies working in healthcare.

One such company is Phoenix, AZ-based Symbius Medical, which believes that as a responsible, accountable home medical equipment company, it has to take a strong lead in the healthcare industry.

“We have an unwritten philosophy that says ‘Err on the side of the customer and you’ll never make a bad decision’” says Dwight Knox, President of Symbius Medical. “The harsh reality is that the customers that we provide services to don’t want to be on the products we provide. And because of the unfortunate circumstances that they’ve been dealt, they’ve landed on our company’s doorstep, and we want to make sure we help that transition in improving the quality of their life everyday.”

Today, the company’s products range from soft goods like catheters, diabetic supplies and wound care, to items like respiratory & urological supplies, durable medical equipment (DME) and mobility products like hospital beds, wheelchairs, and power wheelchairs. The company is growing at a quick rate, and intends on moving beyond its core Southwest region of Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah.

Symbius Medical’s level of compassion and care is what’s making a difference in the company’s growth in the healthcare industry. “We’re not just out there selling products,” adds Gary Hershey, Symbius Medical’s VP of Urological Sales.  “We connect with our customers by providing clinical expertise to help them make the choices they need to make.”

Some of those customers have shared their experience with the company at the Symbius Medical testimonials page. Customer Jim offered that the company was “there as a friend, they were there for any need I had, pretty much they were there for me.” Another customer, Steve, who has worked with Symbius since an accident in December 2011, shared his story as well.

“Prior to my injury, I didn’t spend a lot of time thinking about or discussing wheelchairs, or the facets of wheelchairs that are important like balance and comfort,” said Steve, who now moves around in a TI (Titanium) chair. “The first thing Symbius did for me was walk me through everything I needed to know about wheelchair. I received an education. Secondly, I learned about the fitting process. Then, Symbius worked seamlessly with my insurance company and got me the best possible chair I could get, and I’m forever grateful for that.”

Symbius’ expertise with wheelchairs extends to the role that wheel camber plays with wheelchair patients. In Steve’s case, Symbius Medical helped extend his legs further out while in the chair, and gave him a new level of comfort he might not have felt.

The quality of care and compassion, listening and understanding helps Symbius Medical stand out among its peers in healthcare. Symbius Medical is dedicated to improving the quality of life for its customers by providing exceptional service, education, and compassionate care for the communities we serve.
